Advertising Information
Advertising is available in Tower Times. From full page to 1/8 page, full color to black and white, and classifieds - there is an ad size and price that will work for your company. Members receive reduced rates on advertising.

NEW in 2008!

Tower Times will be available on the NATE website and will appear as it does in print...including advertising. A link to the current issue will be available on the home page.

This will greatly increase the exposure you receive with your advertisements as the NATE website averages 45,000 visits per month.

Advertising Policies

NATE Approval
As Tower Times is the official publication of the National Association of Tower Erectors, it was determined by the NATE Board of Directors that advertising should be of service to - not in competition with - NATE’s Primary Membership (those companies performing tower erection, service and maintenance).

General

-Tower Times does not accept “help wanted” ads or employment ads of any kind.

-Ads placed in Tower Times must advertise a product, service or item of interest to NATE’s Primary Members.

- Some of the services which may not be advertised in Tower Times include, but are not limited to tower erection, tower service, tower maintenance, site development and design, civil work, marketing, antenna co-location, zoning and permitting, rooftop management and leasing.

Ads Depicting Climbers on Towers

* Advertisers should be advised that ads depicting climbers on towers must feature climbers who are properly tied off.

* Ads featuring climbers deemed by NATE to be exhibiting questionable 100% tie-off procedures will not be allowed in Tower Times

All advertising is subject to NATE approval. NATE reserves the right to reject advertising which is not in keeping with the Association’s standards and reserves the right to mark “advertisement” on copy that readers may confuse with editorial content.

If you have a question regarding whether or not your ad will be approved for publishing, please contact the NATE office for prior approval.

Closing Dates (All Ads)
All ad materials and insertion orders are due on the 1st of the month previous to the monthly issue in which you wish your ad to appear. If the 1st of the month falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline is the next business day.

Please contact the NATE office if an extension is needed. Email TowerTimes@natehome.com or 605-886-5450. If new ad copy is not received by the closing date, NATE reserves the right to repeat the last preceding ad if an insertion order has been placed for that issue.

Note: Space reservations may not be cancelled after closing date.

Copy Regulations/Return of Materials
If new ad copy is not received by the closing date, NATE reserves the right to repeat the last preceding ad if an insertion order has been placed for that issue. Tower Times cannot hold materials which have not been used for a period of 12 months; and for which no specific instructions have been received prior to 12 months from date of issue last used.

Insertion Orders
All ads must be accompanied by an insertion order. Verbal agreements are not recognized.

Payment Terms
All invoices are payable upon receipt. Tower Times looks to the advertising agency placing the insertion order for payment; however, Tower Times shall have the right to hold the advertising agency and the advertiser jointly responsible and severally liable for the monies due and payable to NATE, and the agency warrants by submitting the insertion order that it and the advertiser have accepted this responsibility. Tower Times will not be bound by conditions, printed or otherwise, on contracts, order blanks or instructions when such conditions conflict with its policies. Verbal agreements are not recognized.

Companies who do not renew their membership dues by September 30 will be back-charged for non-member rates for ads placed in the July, August and September Tower Times.

Agency Commission
Tower Times does not offer agency discounts.

Liability
Advertisers and advertising agencies assume liability for all content (including text, representation and illustrations) of advertisements printed.

No rebates will be made for errors or omissions in the Advertiser’s Index. Tower Times’ sole obligation as to any failure or default on its part shall be limited to a refund of its charges which may have been paid or, to publish tendered advertising in the next available issue.

Neither NATE nor Tower Times is liable for delays in delivery and/or non-delivery in the event of an Act of God, action of any government or quasi-government entity, fire, flood, insurrection, riot, explosion, embargo, strikes (whether legal or illegal), labor or material shortage, transportation interruption of any kind, work slowdown, or any condition beyond the control of NATE or Tower Times affecting production or delivery in any manner.

Frequency Advertising Rates

Advertisers will be short-rated, if within the 12-month period from the date of first insertion they do not use the amount of space upon which the billings have been based. Failure to complete order as written to qualify for published frequency rates will result in the loss of all discounts. A contract may be suspended or cancelled upon written notice received by Tower Times prior to the ad closing date for the appropriate issue, and the rate will be adjusted to that earned by actual number of insertions.

Ads should be converted to CMYK prior to submission as color shifts may occur. Ads received in RGB color will be converted to CMYK.

Changes/Corrections
Tower Times will not make changes or corrections to files once they have been received. A new ad must be submitted to the NATE office by the closing date if changes must be made.

Submitting Digital Files
Submitting digital files requires a working knowledge of the technical process involved in preparing digital ad materials. We suggest using an ad layout program, which is designed to prepare files that are intended for press. Other programs, such as PowerPoint or Word, are not ad layout programs and can be impossible to use for downloading files for output. It may be helpful to contact a local printer or ad agency and ask for assistance in preparing your ad files.

PDF Tips

We recommend using Adobe Acrobat Distiller to create PDFs.

The page size in your layout application should be the trim size if it’s a full page ad, or the ad dimensions if it’s a fractional ad. We cannot adjust the size after the PDF is created.

If the file is supposed to bleed, make sure the bleed is at least 1/8” (0.125”) off the page all the way around.

Critical elements such as text or logos should be kept within the “live” area, 3/8” (0.375”) away from trim to avoid clipping if magazine trim is off slightly.

Make sure all photos, images and graphics are CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) color mode and not RGB color mode.

Photos and graphics need to be 300 dpi (dots per inch). Anything less will produce poor, fuzzy quality printing. Keep this in mind: sizing down an image improves print quality but sizing up an image reduces print quality.

All art should be in either EPS or TIF. Do not use GIFs or JPGs that you’ve downloaded from a website. The resolution is not high enough quality -- usually only 72 dpi.

Do not use WMF (Windows MetaFile) art.

Classified Advertising
Tower Times Classified Advertising provides an avenue to companies who are looking for a way to sell equipment or advertise tower space. Classifieds are located in the back of Tower Times. You may choose to include your company’s logo in black and white or full color and also frame your text for increased recognition.

All logos should be emailed in a TIFF or EPS format to TowerTimes@natehome.com. If that is not possible, a crisp logo can be mailed to the NATE office. Faxed logos will not be accepted.

A proof of your ad will be faxed prior to printing for your approval. One proof will be provided free of charge. Additional proofs will be charged $10 each.

Exhibitor Seniority Points
Exhibitor seniority points are used for the determination of the exhibit space assignment sequence for each annual exposition. The more points a company accumulates, the higher the likelihood they will receive their desired booth location. Tower Times advertisers who also exhibit at NATE’s Annual Conference & Exposition are now eligible to obtain additional seniority points through advertising.

Exhibitors will receive seniority points for advertising in Tower Times as follows:

Ad Description / Point Value
Full Page Color Ad = .5
Full Page B/W Ad = .25
2/3 Page Color Ad = .334
2/3 Page B/W Ad = .167
1/2 Page Color Ad = .25
1/2 Page B/W Ad = .125
1/3 Page Color Ad = .167
1/3 Page B/W Ad = .084
1/4 Page Color Ad = .125
1/4 Page B/W Ad = .0625
1/8 Page Color Ad = .0625
1/8 Page B/W Ad = .03125

Minimum points awarded are 1 point per year. Advertisers who do not meet 1 point in one year will not be awarded any points for that year. Points will not be awarded until advertising is paid in full.

Note: Advertising points earned in 2008 will be applied for NATE 2010 booth selection.

Seniority points may also be earned through exhibiting, membership, annual event sponsorship, and staying in the NATE event headquarters hotel.
