From the NATE Office
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I find myself thinking again about how much I have to be thankful for. With the recent disasters that took the lives of so many U.S. citizens, and left over a hundred thousand people with nothing, I suddenly feel extremely fortunate for things I tend to take for granted; a loving family and home, good friends, and a job that gives me the opportunity to help others.

NATE, above everything else, remains an organization that serves others. Through safety, education, and standards, NATE members have created changes that affect not only NATE, but also everyone working in our industry. A good idea has gone a long way toward making life better.

NATE is now in its second decade of service. Many of the goals outlined for the Association’s first ten years have been reached, while so much more waits to be accomplished. Included on that “To Do” list is the critical question of how NATE can best serve its members in the coming years.

Much of the responsibility for answering that question rests on the shoulders of the NATE Board of Directors. This month, NATE Voting Members are asked to cast their ballots to determine who will set the Association’s future course on the 2006 Board.

With seven excellent candidates on the ballot, NATE is ensured of another year of quality leadership. But each candidate has their own individual perspectives on the Association, and brings their own talents to the table. Which of those candidates will best serve NATE is your decision.

During the last week in October NATE voting members were mailed a ballot. Please take the time to review your ballot today and cast your vote for the candidates you feel will best represent NATE in the coming year. Please do not delay casting your vote and mailing your ballot back to the NATE office. Ballots must be received in the NATE office by November 30. Ballots received after that date will be discarded.

During this season of thanks, remember to include NATE on the list of things for which you are thankful, and take part in selecting the Association’s leadership. This is an excellent way to help serve the industry.

As we head into November, let us all be mindful of those whose lives have been devastated this past year, and let’s do what we can to make their holiday season a little brighter. If NATE has taught us anything, it is that we are all in this together.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
