From the NATE Office
Happy New Year!
As another year begins for the National Association of Tower Erectors, I think of all the challenges we must meet to keep pace with the remarkable years gone by. There will be no shortage of activity for the NATE Administrative Staff and the many NATE members who so generously give of their time.
First things first, the NATE 2006 Annual Conference & Exposition is upon us. Have you booked your rooms yet? Make your reservations and register by January 9. I know that date is close at hand, so don’t delay. Do it right now. See complete show details on pages 25-35 of this Tower Times.
NATE 2006 promises to be another excellent show. For those of you who attend the show regularly, you know the great value of this event. For those of you who have not attended the conference and exposition before, believe me, it will be well worth your while. The trade show, the educational sessions, and the opportunity to talk with many of the leaders of this great industry are just a few of the reasons you need to be with us in Orlando.
As the year moves on, NATE will be focusing heavily on the further implementation of the NATE Tower Climber Fall Protection Training Standard (NATE CTS). With interest in the NATE CTS growing, ensuring its recognition as the standard to which all tower climbers should be trained will be of great importance to the Association and the industry.
NATE’s efforts in Washington, D.C. will likely be heightened in the coming year as well. With court cases pending regarding the migratory bird issue, NATE will be calling on the other two branches of the federal government in 2006 to continue our involvement in the resolution of this issue.
With a national tower erection standard likely to follow the developments of 2005, NATE will continue its leadership role in defining the best practices for industry safety.
The NATE Safety & Education Committee continues to develop new safety resources and refine some of NATE’s existing materials. The release of the RF Awareness video, review of the benchmark NATE Accident Prevention, Safety and Health Program Guide, and development of new safety videos are among the items on the agenda for that group.
And then there is NATE 2007. Plans are already well underway in the NATE office for the cycle of success to continue. Membership involvement in NATE has made 2005 a year to remember and 2006 one to look forward to.
To the Board of Directors, NATE Committees, and all NATE members, from Paula, Carol, Deb, Shelly, Corene, Jodi, and myself, thank you for another great year at NATE, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
