Chairman’s Message
I am thankful that 2006 is now coming to a close. What a year!
It was a good year from many perspectives, except one.
Good:
• Across the industry -- wireless and broadcast -- we saw a record number of projects;
• The NATE/OSHA National Partnership Agreement was approved;
• The RF Safety Awareness video was released;
• OSHA Relations Committee Chairman Gordon Lyman began writing and reviewing the Erection and Rigging Standard. We must also thank Brian Reese, Jack Erickson, Dave Brinker and Mark Malouf for their ongoing efforts to editorial enhancements;
• The 2003 Compliance Directive CPL-2.1.36 was revised and sent to OSHA;
• Michigan OSHA (MIOSHA) began writing tower regulations. Union and non-union labor, management, compliance officers and consultants have joined hands to develop a consensus on industry safety. Many believe this will be the template for a national standard;
• NATE began a National Safety Awareness Campaign and distributed thousands of safety posters which have been posted to spark employee awareness nationwide; and
• Dave Anthony sponsored a SAFE day program over the Fourth of July holiday weekend that developed into a national following.
Not Good:
• Too many accidents, the one thing none of us wants.
We all have so much for which to be thankful. It is difficult to put into words what’s most important. We should be thankful for our families, our health, and the health of our country. We should be thankful to those who protect our nation: the soldiers, police, firefighters and first responders. May God bless us all!
