OSHA Relations Committee Update
Congratulations NATE members! You have achieved another gigantic goal. The NATE/OSHA National Partnership was signed in Washington, D.C. on November 8, 2006. All the hours, weeks, months and, yes, years of determination have once again brought us another fantastic achievement. NATE members now have another means of demonstrating their exceptional dedication to safety for all tower climbers.
NATE will be honored by the attendance of Mr. Edwin G. Foulke, Jr. -- the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health -- at this year’s Annual Conference & Exposition in Nashville, Tennessee. He will be addressing NATE members at 8:45 a.m. on February 14, 2007. NATE is very fortunate to have OSHA’s top ranked official attending this year’s show. Please take advantage of this golden opportunity.
Mr. Foulke’s comments will be followed by the first NATE/OSHA National Partnership Workshop. The workshop will begin with the details and requirements for participation in the Partnership. We encourage everyone to attend. Even if you are not sure that you want to participate, please consider attending the workshop so that you will be able to make a fully informed decision.
As part of the Partnership Agreement, a Partnership Management Team (PMT) was formed. The PMT consists of OSHA officials and six NATE representatives who will meet on a regular basis. The team members will enable continued open dialogue between the partners. This forum will ultimately ensure a more successful program and relationship.
The PMT’s first meeting was held in Washington, D.C. immediately following the signing ceremony and a follow-up meeting was held in December. I was genuinely impressed by the excitement and enthusiasm all PMT members have for making this partnership work. I had the honor and privilege of witnessing this process, and the spirit of cooperation and mutual desire for success was nothing short of amazing.
From this point forward, we have accomplished a lot together but there is also a lot more to do. Please do your part by considering participating in the Partnership. Attend the partnership workshop and come prepared with your questions. If you cannot attend, please feel free to contact the NATE office with your questions. Direct your questions to Patrick Howey or Shelly Trego. Pat Cipov serves as a member of the NATE OSHA Relations Committee as well as Vice Chairman of the Association. She is the President of Cipov Enterprises, Inc. in Sumter, South Carolina and can be reached at 803-499-5660 or cipov@ftc-i.net.
