From the NATE Office
As I write this article NATE is preparing to hold its summer conference. This three-day meeting brings the Board of Directors and NATE Committee Members together for an opportunity to continue their work face-to-face. Tower Times will be at the printer before the meeting is held, so I will provide an update for everyone in my October article.

September 30 marks the end of NATE’s fiscal year. There are a couple noteworthy deadlines that coincide with that date.

First, the NATE/OSHA Partnership is offering a midseason enrollment opportunity for any company who did not join last February. The
program is open to all NATE members who employ tower climbers. Eligibility has been expanded to also include tower owners, carriers and general contractors. After this enrollment period ends, it will be another year before NATE members have the opportunity to join the program. I encourage all eligible members to give serious thought to joining the Partnership. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact NATE Accounts Coordinator Shelly Trego at the NATE office.

The second deadline in September is for membership dues. If you have not taken the time to submit your dues for fiscal year 2008, please do so without delay. Following NATE policy, memberships expire if they are not paid by September 30.

NATE has made great accomplishments over the past twelve years. This year has seen the development of a national partnership, a safety campaign, and greater efforts to facilitate training. NATE continues to be the unified voice of the industry, representing the best interests of tower erectors in regulatory matters, and has again been directly involved in the development of policy on behalf of its members.

Continuing these and many other efforts takes time and involvement. The first step toward keeping your association working for you is to remain a member. NATE’s role in representing the industry grows each year. Your participation begins when you renew your membership. If you have not yet paid your dues, please take the time to do so today.

To all NATE members who continue to participate in their association through their membership, through their volunteer efforts, and through the support they show by attending the annual conference and exposition each year, thank you for your continued involvement, and thank you for making a difference in the industry.

Patrick Howey is the NATE Executive Director. He can be reached at 888-882-5865 or patrick@natehome.com
