Membership Committee Update
The NATE membership currently consists of 526 companies located throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. I would first like to welcome the following new members to NATE:

We’ve come a long way since the days of wooden gin poles and hemp rope, (no I’m not talking cavemen era). There are still some old owner/operators out there that hesitate telling you that they remember what to look for in a good white pine tree to make a good white pole, because nobody would ever believe their stories again - or how to approximate swl by the weight of your gin pole.
I can still remember seeing a Channel 6 RCA bat wing antenna (18,000 lbs) hanging out so far on a 120’ wood gin pole (tree) that it took a better part of an hour to lasso it 15’ away at the tower top. Because that’s how far a good wood pole can bend. I also saw what a wood gin pole looks like after it slipped through the chokers and punched itself back into the ground (from whence it came).
Imagine also no 2-way radios, no decent weather forecast, no cell phones, no air conditioned trucks, no hydraulic man-rated hoists, no swl ratings and water-logged hemp rope instead of nylon.
We weren’t connected in a world wide web. We were only sure of the job we were on, no guarantee of future work from several hundred different wireless companies.
The start up and development of NATE was not just the work of our association from its inception date; it’s also what was learned and developed by all those tower men that came before 1995.
I want to thank NATE for everything that we now stand for... safe and reputable tower companies with a future. It has helped our own company grow and realize that we aren’t alone in good times and bad. If you haven’t joined NATE yet, you don’t realize what we do for each other. Join the family!
