Chairman’s Message
Fall is almost upon us and I don’t know about you, but I don’t know where the summer went. It’s been an interesting and challenging year for our industry. Customers have been hard to come by and competition has made it even more difficult to hold on to those we have. But then, business tends to be like this. It ebbs and flows with the winds of change.

The current situation in our market brings to mind one of the mottos which has helped to guide my path throughout my life. The saying goes; "that which doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger". Unfortunately, some NATE members will not survive these difficult times. However, those who do survive will undoubtedly be stronger and wiser for having gone through them. I tend to be an optimist and I believe good times are on the horizon. The one constant we have to lean on throughout these trying circumstances is the strength of this great association. Although coming up with the money for the dues this year was hard for many of us, I feel strongly that the payoff will be well worth the investment.

NATE was founded before the wireless boom of the late 90’s. Those of us that have been around since before the boom have seen times like these before. Irrespective of what is happening in the industry, NATE has been there to help us become better companies, to help us in our common causes before Washington, and to help us raise the standard of safety in the industry.

And NATE will be around for many, many years to come. Thanks to good fiscal management on the part of our previous Chairman, the collective Board of Directors and our Administrator, NATE is financially and in all other ways a strong and thriving organization. The Association will continue to be here for its members to push the causes it has so vigorously fought for over the past seven plus years.

When the dust from the present storm settles, we will all be stronger and wiser. Hopefully our customers will have gained some perspective as well. One thing that seems certain is that towers will continue to dot the maps of our cities and countryside and the need for tower services will not soon diminish. In this regard, we should look at the present tower market conditions as a hiccup in the round of a normal business cycle. I look forward to the sunnier days ahead.
