From The NATE Office
As many of you know, the NATE office recently moved to a different building. The structure was completely renovated to provide NATE with badly needed space that will enhance efficiency and productivity. The new office is a national headquarters of which all NATE members can be very proud. The staff will continue to do our best to uphold the high standards the Association has come to expect, as we begin our new era in this facility. I want to take this time to thank Bill and Kari Carlson of Tower Systems, Inc. for their leadership in providing NATE with a facility that will meet the Association's needs for years to come.
Because Tower Times is a monthly publication, the articles are written a month before the magazine reaches you. We will have another month in the new office under our belts before August arrives. August always jumps off the calendar for the NATE staff as this month marks the mid-point of the year for NATE. The 2004 NATE Annual Conference & Exposition is six months away, and now is the time to assess where the Association stands in pursuit of our mission and goals.
To facilitate that process, NATE's Board of Directors and Committees will gather in Chicago this month for the NATE Summer Conference. The Summer Conference is made up of three days of meetings for the Board of Directors and Committees to conduct business.
There is a lot to talk about this year: the development of the industry standard and curriculum for training; the expansion of the NATE/OSHA Partnership to the national level; the ongoing and challenging task of improving on last year's outstanding annual event; efforts to expand benefits to NATE members, the NATE Insurance Program; new safety and educational resources; and the many regulatory challenges facing NATE members will all be addressed in those two short days. When broken down into particulars, the list goes on and on.
How NATE will handle these and other pressing matters will be largely defined at the Summer Conference. This is NATE's opportunity to make sure we are all on the "same page" as we address the needs of our members and the concerns facing the tower erection, service and maintenance industry. NATE's leadership in safety will be a theme that resonates throughout all of the meetings.
Last month in this column I took some time to thank NATE's Board Members for their hard work. This month, as we head toward the NATE Summer Conference, I want to thank all those individuals who serve on NATE's committees. Just like Board Members, Committee Members are not paid for the time and effort they dedicate to NATE. Their dedication to NATE is impressive, and their ability to find the time to help NATE succeed is remarkable. On behalf of the NATE staff and Board of Directors, "Thank You Very Much!" to all the Committee Chairmen and Committee Members who keep this Association going strong.
I look forward to seeing everyone in Chicago for the Summer Conference. I also look forward to the ongoing impact your association has on industry safety.
