Chairman’s Message
NATE 2004

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank each of you who attended NATE 2004 in Nashville. The show was a tremendous success. I hope that everyone went away with something of value either learned from the outstanding educational sessions, gained through learning about products from our many wonderful exhibitors or in networking with your fellow tower company professionals.

Mr. Ken Meador of TWR Lighting has worked tirelessly since the inception of NATE as the Chairman of the Trade Show Committee in order to ensure the show’s success. Many thanks go out to you, Ken, and your committee. And the work put forth by the NATE staff also deserves special recognition. Thank you Patrick, Paula, Carol, Deb, Shelly, Corene and Vicki. You all did a terrific job. Finally I’d like to thank Mr. David Litchford, our keynote speaker, and the other terrific presenters that helped make the show interesting and informative.

National Election Year

On another subject, the election campaigning year is upon us. It seems that everywhere we turn we get to see national and local candidates telling us why we should elect them over their political adversary. I’m no different than most of you in my advanced weariness with regard to what is sure to be a long tiresome campaign season. But the idea of elected officials representing us is nonetheless an important part of our form of government.

I’m sure most of you will agree that you could not think of a better place to live than the United States of America. Sure, we have problems, but when it really matters the most, the people of this great nation usually step up and do the right thing. This is true even sometimes in spite of politicians that would lead us in the wrong direction.

As I was thinking about all of the campaigning going on recently the words to the song from the popular singer/song writer Billy Joel came to mind. Although Mr. Joel was probably not thinking about politicians when he wrote the lyrics to Honesty, they seem to fit pretty well:

"Honesty is such a lonely word, everyone is so untrue. Honesty is hardly ever heard and mostly what I need from you."

I sense that more now than in the past few years the people of this great country want honesty in their leaders. Certainly the direction we are lead is important, but honesty goes a long way in making up for other political differences of opinion.

I hope that each of you will take the chance to make informed opinions on the national candidates running for President, the Senate and House and do your best in selecting people for office that will do a good job of representing your priorities.

Until next month, be safe!

Craig M. Snyder, NATE Chairman
